My name is Angie, and I love all animals, big and small. I grew up with dogs, cats, horses, and I even tried to keep a crawdad in my bathroom sink once. I love being outside, and after working in multiple vet clinics during college and then spending over a decade in the outdoor industry, I decided to take the leap and start a business that combined two of my favorite things in the whole world: doggos & nature.
The Swayze Story <3
Dog Days' roots can be traced back to my very first rescue pup, Swayze. I noticed her while working a job at a vet clinic in college because she was being boarded for days - and sometimes weeks - at a time. One night, when her owner came in to pick her up, she said she may have to re-home Swayze, so I immediately gave her my number. She called me the next week.
Swayze was my adventure buddy. She went everywhere with me, and when I decided to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, she went there, too. It was during those six months on trail that I saw how wonderful being out in nature was for her - mile after mile, the exercise and enrichment made her a happier, more relaxed hound dog.
And so, in her memory, I started Dog Days of Summit, where the goal is to spoil your pup by giving them a snippet of the thru-hiker dog experience: running, sniffing, rolling, playing, and then crashing at the end of the day when they're dog tired.
